Morgan’s golf day for disabled children

HUNDREDS of families with disabled children are to benefit from a special golf day being organised by one of the UK’s top entrepreneurs, Steve Morgan.
All the money raised at The Morgan Foundation’s golf event at Carden Park, Cheshire on May 16 is to handed to a national disability charity to pay for vital equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers, specialist beds, and communication aids.
Mr Morgan, founder of Redrow Homes and owner/chairman of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, said: “Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children has demonstrated an entrepreneurial and business-like approach to addressing the daily difficulties which families with a disabled child face.
“The practical help which it offers via the provision of equipment and, in particular, the Just Can’t Wait scheme, which aims to get vital equipment to families within 72 hours, are services which the Morgan Foundation has identified as crucial to these families. They are exactly what we wish to support.”
Newlife CEO Sheila Brown added: “Support like this is key to Newlife’s ability to not only maintain the current level of provision, but expand services to meet increasing demand. As local authority budget cuts continue to bite, we anticipate that even more families will be forced to turn to charities like ours for help.”
The Newlife Foundation also operates a recycling and retail social enterprise business, working with leading UK and European high street retailers and manufacturers. This turns unwanted goods into essential support for disabled and terminally ill children, funding core nurse-led services.
Since 2005 the charity has funded £10 million of equipment grants for more than 6,700 children all over the UK.
