New airline hoist could make the going easier

ManchesterMANCHESTER Airport is trialling a new hosit that helps wheelchair users transfer to aircraft seats.

The Eagle hoist, developed by Australian company, Haycomp, can be used in main line commercial jets with 3-seats each side and wide body aircraft.

Collette Roche, director of security and customer services for Manchester Airport, said: “Everyone at Manchester Airport puts the customer at the centre of everything they do, which is why we have decided to introduce this month trial period to assess how effective the hoists are and how many passengers they can help assist.”

For the period of the trial, which runs until 5 December, the hoist can be pre-booked (subject to availability) between 0400 2200 daily at least 48 hours before travel.
