Early years support

A number of schemes have been put in place by the Government to support families and young children.

In most local authorities there is a network of services for pre-school children where both education and health authorities, social services and voluntary organisations work together.

Getting hold of the right information is important. This could be about:

  • the full range of government services available locally and how to access them
  • the support available from local parents groups and voluntary organisations
  • there are also schemes that ‘join up’ the people who you come in contact with in supporting you and your child
