All together now – Corrie’s Audrey praises award winners

SueNichollsMAINCORONATION Street’s Audrey Roberts took time out from her hair salon to present awards to more than 100 young people and adults who use the services of North West-based charity, the Together Trust.

Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey, was especially impressed with the progress made by Bethany Smart (pictured), a student at Inscape House School, the charity’s specialist school for children and young people with autistic spectrum conditions.

Bethany scooped the Life Skills and Independence award for her determination and positive attitude in increasing her communication skills.

Head teacher Anne Price said: “Taking part in a number of therapy groups, including peer interaction support and team building, has helped Beth to develop cooperative communication skills and interact more easily with her peers.

“Beth’s progress has been tremendous, and we’re delighted that this been recognised at the Achievement Awards.”

The Together Trust has been providing care, special education and community support for young people and adults in the North West region since it was established in 1870. Today, the charity helps more than 1,700 people and their families each year, who are experiencing emotional, behavioural or social difficulties, physical and learning disabilities or autistic spectrum conditions.
