FOR the fifth year running, Your Housing Group – one of the largest providers of affordable housing in the UK – is the headline sponsor of the North West’s biggest outdoor event for disabled people.
“Your Housing Group have been absolutely fantastic,” said Dave Thompson, chief executive of Warrington Disability Partnership, who organise the annual Disability Awareness Day.
“Thanks to their support we have been able to develop the event and make it the best information day for disabled people in the UK – if not the world!”
Charities, self-help groups and companies that help people with their independence are now being urged to book a place at the 25th annual Disability Awareness Day – before it’s too late.
“Our DAD team have been working tirelessly to make the Silver Anniversary event a huge success,” said Dave.
“The response we are getting is fantastic. It’s going to be the best ever. We just hope that people don’t leave it too late to book their stalls – we don’t want to disappoint anyone.”
More than 25,000 visitors are expected at Walton Hall Gardens, situated near Warrington, on Sunday July 10.
A huge tented village will house 250 exhibitors, including those representing mobility and independent living equipment suppliers, and providers of transport, holidays, leisure and employment services.
Also on-site will be the fully accessible Sports Zone, providing the chance to experience archery, climbing, and small bore rifle shooting.
You can also try your hand at new age curling, accessible rugby, football, tennis, boxing, golf, scuba diving, martial arts, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair fencing!
Disabled entertainers will be there, too, including Carly Ryan from the BBC’s ‘Autistic Superstars’, and nationally acclaimed drama group Ella Performance.
There will also be an exhibition of artwork produced by disabled artists.
