The Merseyside MP had nothing but praise for the trailblazing paper when he popped into the charity’s offices.
“This newspaper is absolutely brilliant,” he said, “and deserves every bit of help.
“Not only is All Together NOW! helping and inspiring the huge numbers of people affected by disability and ill-health, it is also raising much-needed awareness about health in general – and about having a good time.
“It’s the only paper of its kind in the country!”
More than 110,000 copies of the free paper are circulated every two months to more than 500 venues across the North West – with the vast majority being picked up in supermarkets, hospitals and health centres.
Mr Twigg said: “It’s amazing to think that despite the general downward trend in newspaper circulations, All Together NOW! goes from strength to strength and has actually doubled its readership to almost half a million in six months.
“This is largely due to the magnificent help now being given from local supermarket bosses and their community/charity staff who are letting the charity place its pick-up boxes in their stores.
“The fact that it is free is also a massive boost for those families who are finding it hard to make ends meet.”
All Together NOW! is supported through grants, donations, advertising and sponsorships from the Bank Workers Charity, Liverpool Community College, Merseytravel, the Morgan Foundation, Park Group, and United Utilities.
“It’s a great community paper,” continued Mr Twigg, “one which needs and deserves every ounce of support.”
