ALMOST 250 of the world’s top disabled athletes descend on Manchester this week for the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester.
The six-day event, which gets gets under way today, sees the Great Britain team taking on the best of the rest of the world in wheelchair basketball, swimming, athletics, boccia and sitting volleyball.
Sir Philip Craven, president of the International Paralympic Committee, said:
“The BT Paralympic World Cup is a great event showcasing some of the best elite athletes from around the world.
“With London 2012 now just around the corner, I believe there will be more interest in the event this year than ever before.”
Channel 4 will broadcast a two-hour live programme Saturday, as well daily highlights packages on Thursday and Friday. Live daily streaming from each sport will also be broadcast on the Channel 4 website: www.channel4.com/paralympics.
