All Together NOW! one of best read titles in the North West

All Together Now! logoYOUR favourite All Together NOW! paper is among the top three best read titles in the North West!

And with less than 10 per cent of the region’s 6.2m population having heard of it, there’s huge potential for growth.Since setting up five years ago, North West-based All Together NOW! has amassed 240,000 readers – and half DO NOT read any local paper, evening morning or weekly.

Only the Manchester News (356,000,Thurs-Fri editions) and Liverpool Echo (250,000) record better readership figures.

David Murray, who runs the Liverpool-based Murray Consultancy, that specialises in newspaper reader research, said: “We have uncovered a real gem. Unlike lots of newspapers who are losing readers hand over fist, All Together NOW! is bucking the trend – and in grand style.

“In the ten years we have been conducting surveys nothing has come anywhere near to the standards being set by this new newspaper. The results are hugely impressive by anyone’s standard.

“Our data shows that All Together NOW! is being eagerly read right across the region by people with – and without – disabilities. There is something in it for everyone.”

The survey shows that in the past year the paper has attracted an increased 20 per cent readership, due to the increased availability of the publication in mainstream outlets such as garden centres, visitor attractions and hospitals.

Ninety per cent of those surveyed could not fault the title, half of the readership said the paper is now firmly part of their reading habits – and more than half (54 per cent) said they were not disabled.

Informative, unique and stylish are how most readers describe the publication.

Tom Dowling, founder and editor of the bi-monthly paper, said:

“We knew we had created something very special and these results confirm that.

“Every day we get calls, letters and emails from readers saying just how much they like and really value the paper – that’s something journalists normally don’t hear.

“Unlike lots of free papers that are posted into homes, our readers are going out of their way to pick up their copies.

“If we can find the resources to print and circulate more papers we think All Together NOW! could well become the best read title in the region.”

Dowling, who recentlty received an O2 sponsored Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering work with the paper, and who is also shorlisted for a Barclays Trading Places award, added:

“We are now looking to team up with advertising agencies and media buyers to give their clients’ a new and innovative way to spread their messages to a new and fast growing market.”

Mike Unger, former editor of the Manchester Evening News, Daily Post and Liverpool Echo, and NOW! a trustee of the charity, said: “This research is seriously stunning.

“Over the years I’ve been on the receiving end of a number of reader surveys and it’s not been a very pleasant experience having your paper torn apart and heavily criticised by your readers.

“This report, however, is tremendously positive and highlights the huge potential for All Together NOW!

“It really is very exciting.”

The only negative in the survey was that not enough copies are in circulation.

In the North West there are 2.2m people who are affected by disability – one-third of the population.

David Murray said: “Despite a distribution figure of 60,000 copies, the publication has significant scope to increase its circulation.”

The Murray Consultancy is a full service Market Research and Analysis Agency headed by David Murray, a research practitioner with over thirty years experience in Market and Social Research.
